Our Story So Far...

Welcome to the Fermanagh Voluntary Association of the Disabled (FVAD). Not many people know of us, yet would you believe that the charity has been going for approx 52+ years. It has been overseen by a dedicated team of trustees from the start.

FVAD organise and participate in many social events for it’s members. We currently have a membership of over 150.

We Continue To Move Forward...

We provide training in many areas including woodwork, gardening, arts and crafts, life skills including money management, good housekeeping etc. We organise seminars and networking events which includes a cross-border partnership. We own our own mini-bus which enables us to meet our members’ transport needs in both urban and rural areas.

On-site at our Mill Street premises, we have a ‘Community Garden’, an Organic Garden and 3 polytunnels where we work with our members to grow fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and shrubs and we create patio pots and hanging baskets, some of which we sell to the public. We have a computer suite which has internet access from where we offer computer classes in a fun and safe way. We run social evenings twice a month. For these events , we use our newly decorated function room.

We supply sandwiches, cakes and teas/coffees. This is served by a team of volunteers and members are encouraged to help out. We provide live music and everyone is encouraged to get out on the dance floor. This creates social inclusion in a fun and relaxed environment.

Our centre is a meeting place for people of all disabilities seen and unseen where they can find opportunities in which to get involved. The gardens are maintained by disabled adults and most of the courses are run by disabled people.

We now have a large function room that can hold up to 60 people with access to garden and kitchen.  The “pub like theme” is decorated with items from the past so as to stimulate conversation.
